This question is, clearly, closely linked to the amount of money an individual will need to save, during working years, to provide for a financially comfortable retirement
It is well known that relatively few working-age people realise how many years they will live beyond retirement age: the correct answer has now reached 25 years or so for most of the population. Making financial provisions for this many retired years is not easy.
An important starting point is to assess what income you will receive if you make no further provision: state pensions, previous employer scheme benefits, existing pension arrangements and investment income should all be taken into account. Not sure of the way forward?
